In owners' own words
The entire transmission was replaced by the dealership/manufcturer at 28,000 miles. The transmission is now failing again at 48,000 miles. There is plenty of documentation that the transmission in the Intrepid (by other owners) is defective. I personally know of three other Intrepid owners that have had the transmission replaced. Will I have to replace the transmission every 20,000 miles from now on. Power train
Vehicle experiencing problem with transmission not engaging into gear during cold conditions. Also, coming out of gear while driving. When this occurs, consumer would have to pull over, turn off key and wait approximately 1-3 minutes before turning vehicle back on, and taking off again. Also, transmission will not downshift while at a stop postion. Manufacturer notified. Power train
On two occasions while driving, the automatic transmission would not stay in drive gear, during the most recent occurrence, the dealer found a code indicating an internal problem, and stating that the transmission would probably need replacement, consumer is requesting a goodwill warranty on the transmission replacement. *Slc Power train
