Reading the numbers
Across the 7 model years of the Nissan Titan in this data, 2007 draws comparatively few complaints; 2004 is the outlier year.
Filings have fallen off, 6 in the last three years against 11 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.
The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 65,000 miles.
In owners' own words
No events leading up to failure, was driving down the road heard a pop, when making a hard left turn. Went to the shop, turned in again, hard right, loud pop come from rear end. Put truck on lift in shop, drained diff fluid, gear pieces came out. Advised dealer in the morning, was told not to bring it in, they would check with Nissan to see if it would be replaced under goodwill. Was denied on 11/16/2007. I noticed a whining nose from 45 to 70 mph. It got real loud ad 60-65 mph. My Titan is regularly serviced with differential fluid changes, and all maintenance. The truck has 112,000 miles on it. I was just told that they need to replace the rear differential on the truck, at a cost of $2448 plus tax on a vehicle that is very well maintained and taken care of. No excuse for it, and ridiculous. Power train · reported at 112,000 miles
2007 Nissan Titan le, complete rear end failure in the middle of an intersection with an 18' bass boat in tow. I had to be drug about 100 yards to a safe area to get the truck and boat disconnected, ruined a new set of rear tires as the rear end was locked up. Truck currently in shop for new rear end/ hopefully root cause of failure. Luckily no one was hurt. Power train · reported at 20,000 miles
