In owners' own words

Pulled out of the driveway the morning of january 8, 2002 and into traffic. Felt a hard jerk and heard a strange winding noise. The transmission would not shift out of first gear. Took the van to the dealer and they said the transmission was shot from an internal failure and would need a new transmission. The dealer installed a new transmission at a cost of $2147.28 With a 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty. Power train
Transmission failed three times. Dealer rebuilt once under warranty, now states that the new rebuild is our resp. 35,000 Since last rebuild with one previous visit being termed nothing is wrong. Public should be aware of failures with the transmissions. Several technicians in the industry know why the transmission failed. Dealers are not doing updates on the known failures within the transmission system Power train
This is the second transmission failure. The first occurred at 42,000 miles in the middle of a busy san francisco intersection. The latest incident occurred while merging onto a freeway, putting several vehicles at risk, including our van full of children. The number of complaints on the internet as well as acknowledgement from a chrysler representative indicates this is a prevasive problem. Power train
