While driving 70 mph the driver heard a loud crunching noise from the front end. The driver pulled over and proceeded to put the vehicle into park, however the vehicle began to roll backwards so she applied the emergency brake. The vehicle was towed to a local repair shop where she learned the engine and transmission needed to be replaced. Please provide additional information. The contact owns a 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager. The contact stated that the serpentine belt would detach from the vehicle whenever it would rain. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the tension pulley needed replacing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. Consumer noticed liquid dripping on the garage floor, the consumer placed a rag under the vehicle, when backing out of the garage the rag attached to the axle and the driver noticed there were no brakes and was notified by a passers-by the the vehicle was on fire, the engine wiring harness was heavily damaged and the brake sensor wire burned, claim # 42-1330-502.
