I have a 2010 Mercury Milan with only 60000 miles on it and the electric power steering went out. It happened while i was driving causing the car to hard right. The part costs $900 and then it has to be programmed at a dealership. I know there was a recall for this but only for the 2011 model. After researching and reading other safety complaints, it's pretty clear that a recall should be done for the 2010 model. Steering
Wife was driving car got aural warning accompanied by service power steering, and service advancetrac sys with the skidding car symbol on dash. Complete loss of power steering. There were no prior noises/steering issue that would have lead us to believe there was a problem and thankfully there were no adverse weather conditions such as snow or ice or need to avoid a collision she could barely steer vehicle. The power steering failed while I was driving and the dash indicated "service power steering". I was able to pull the car to the side of the road with great effort. I stopped the car and turned it off. After re-starting the car the power steering worked. The next time the car was started the power steering did not work indicating "service power steering now" and "service advance trac". The car cannot be driven. Steering · reported at 105,000 miles
