In owners' own words
I own a 2001 Dodge RAM 1500. The dashboard is literally crumbling away. I spoke with the dealer and they admitted to a known issue with the manufacture of the dash component. Parts are not currently available due to high replacement demand. Dodge is selectively covering repairs or replacement. When I contacted Dodge customer affairs they denied there was a problem and refused to effect any repair or replacement. Structure
My 2001 Dodge RAM 1500 dash has been cracking and I have tried to keep up with the loose parts of it after they break off but while driving last week a piece became loose and in the turbulence inside the truck, with the windows down, a piece of the dash came off and flew into my right eye. I was able to get the truck stopped and after about 15 min I was able to get the piece out of my eye and continue driving. Structure · reported at 220,000 miles
When putting a bottle of soda on top of the dashboard it completely cracked and the bottle fell through into the void under the dash. The issue has progressively gotten worse over the years to the point where I do not even have a dashboard anymore. When I brought it to the dealer a few years ago they were not surprised, they were even complacent, saying yeah we've seen this some are just as bad as yours. Structure
