Reading the numbers

Filings are rising — 842 in the last three years against 150 in the three before. For a vehicle this age that usually points to a wear-related failure owners are hitting now.

The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 40,000 miles.

In owners' own words

Nissan installed plastic oil plugs which when reinstalled can fail. This despite the fact the entire oil pan is aluminum. This can occur after the 2 or 3rd oil change causing the car to lose the plug, overheat due to oil loss or have to be towed because plug falls out or becomes easily stripped. Many place such as Jiffy Lube will refuse to service the cars because they may require a tow to the dealer. Engine
I owned this car for less than 2 years and it's already costing $700.00 to have a EGR valve failure. This seems to be a big problem with these SUV's and I just don't no how this is not covered under the warranty or a recall as this is clearly a defect. There are so many complaints about this issue. This is my 3rd Nissan and most likely my last!!! Not happy at all with this outcome of $700.00 repair! Engine
Engine failed while driving at a high speed while driving in the middle lane on the Garden State Parkway. The engine light came on and my speed started to decrease. Thankfully I was able to pull to the shoulder before the car stopped completely. I got the information about the recall after this happened and was dated for the day after the failure. It has since been replaced through warranty. Engine
