In owners' own words
We had a taillight go out at 70,000 miles. The whole unit had to be replaced and we paid over $900 through a GMC dealer. Then we had the other taillight go out at 88,000 miles. It cost $1000 to repair. We've recently reasearched the issue online and it seems to be extremely common on this specific vehicle and most people and reputable electricians have stated that it's a result of a faulty part in the unit. The rear left light does not work consistently. I have been told by the dealer the whole light assembly will have to be replace at a cost of $800. The Yukon is passed the 3 year warranty by a few months but below the 36000 miles. The extended warranty doesn't cover the light assembly either. Go figure. This seems to be a common problem with the rear led lights on this GMC suv according to numerous web sites. Exterior lighting
The rear passenger brake lights just randomly stopped working. Not a bulb issue as it is an led panel of lights. The back up bulb still works, but the brake lights don't. Dealer says it happens a lot to these cars, and have to buy a whole new unit. This is a safety issue - break lights failing due to poor wiring. Again not a replaceable bulb issue, it is due to a wiring issue within the lighting unit itself Exterior lighting · reported at 80,000 miles
