In owners' own words
CVT transmission gears slipping. OBD II code states stepper motor malfunction. This has caused the vehicle to go from 75 mph to 45 so quickly it almost caused an accident on the freeway. The most recent incident happened today. The transmission started whining and RPMs went high. This looks to be an issue for more Muranos than necessary and should be considered a recall problem. I brought to wallace Nissan with 103k on it and was told it was not part of the recall..There is currently a big recall on Nissan cvt transmissions and they extended to 10yrs 120k. Had to break hard to avoid debris in the road. The car then started âshutteringâ. When I tried to accelerate, car would barely go. The engine was running fine after this but when I placed it in gear, car wouldnât go and rolled backwards while in oncoming traffic. Engine light did come on. Car was towed to a transmission repair shop. Power train
