In owners' own words
Ignition is hard to turn. The key wiil not turn off the engine. The only way to get the ignition to turn off is to physically/aggressivley snap, flick, or jiggle it to turn off the engine. The engine is in park when the incidents occur. During a google search, there are numerous complaints of this occuring. There is a current recall of the microswitch causing ignition issues, yet ignition cylinder is not included. Electrical system · reported at 100,000 miles
The contact owns a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta. After inserting the key in the ignition switch, the key was stuck and failed to exit the switch. The vehicle was taken to brandon Volkswagen (9816 e adamo dr, tampa, fl 33619) where it was diagnosed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000. Electrical system · reported at 56,000 miles
The key gets stuck in the ignition switch and the car is not able to turn off. In order to remove the key you have to jiggle it several times which could be minutes or up to an hour. Could be a safety issue if Iâm somewhere and need to turn the car off immediately. Was told this is a costly repair but if this is a known issue (and it is) why is this not a recall when possible damage or injury could occur. Electrical system
