In owners' own words

When making a left or right turn steering locks up occasionally . If you make a sharp left or right turn its as if you have no power steering. Power steering reservoir fluid is at appropriate level. In my research of this problem, its wide spread. Internet forums have much discussion on this problem. Its a safety issue, when the steering locks up and is too hard to turn the potential for an accident is great. Steering · reported at 79,832 miles
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the power steering failed without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the steering pump and rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileage was 33,000. Steering · reported at 33,000 miles
My spouse was driving the car and tried to make a turn at an intersection and almost hit the car in the oncoming lane because the steering became very difficult. Managed to drive the car into a parking lot where the problem came and went, eventually just had it towed to a mechanic. The car did not exhibit the problem for the mechanic so he could not diagnose the problem. Now we are afraid to drive the car. Steering · reported at 59,000 miles
