Reading the numbers
Across the 16 model years of the Chevrolet Corvette in this data, 2008 ranks 2nd by complaint volume — 2005 draws the most.
Filings have fallen off, 32 in the last three years against 77 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.
The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 48,100 miles.
In owners' own words
Fuel pump module leaking fuel causing fuel to drip onto the exhaust pipe. Potential fire hazard to occupants and occupants of area it is parked near. Yes the dealer and repair shop have confirmed it has cracked when it should not. It has only been inspected by the repair shop due to immediate safety concern. The symptoms were a very strong fuel odor and a puddle of fuel on the ground in the beginning of November. Fuel/propulsion system
Terrible gas fumes smell when I fill tank over half full! Fumes even inside car when windows closed and when garaged the smell is so strong I think a open flame would cause an explosion! This has gone on for several years and not gotten fixed because of reported cost and I think gm should fix. I think this is a health and danger hazard and would hope gm would do the right thing and fix this on my 2008 Corvette. Fuel/propulsion system
Gas leaking at top of fuel tanks. Gas fumes fill cockpit and garage when parked. Evidence of gas dripping down back of drivers side fuel tank, next to exhaust. Car can not be kept in an enclosed garage due to fumes and fire hazard. Driving car also presents a fire hazards, because the fuel drips down onto hot exhaust. Numerous other reports on the Corvette forum of this same problem. Too many to count. Fuel/propulsion system · reported at 48,000 miles
