In owners' own words
Just purchased a used 2007 Jeep wrangler unlimited and have yet to figure out how to fuel up without massive overflow at full. Never have I experienced such a large amount of overflow on any other vehicle I have owned. This occurs on the first shut off at full, not under topping off (which I know should not be done). I have experienced the same overflow at every fuel up and at different fuel stations. Fuel system, gasoline · reported at 38,800 miles
When I fill up my gas tank, it 'spits back' fuel before shutting off leaving gas dripping down my fenders and onto the ground. It doesn't appear to be too much gas but still leaves everything wet with gas including the gas pump. This happens when using the auto shut-off feature of the pump. It also happens when on the low speed setting. This started around 50k miles and continues now at 55k miles. Fuel system, gasoline · reported at 55,568 miles
When refueling the vehicle, the fuel will overflow and spray or run down the side of vehicle, onto the bumper, fender flare, then splatters on the ground. We have learned not to stand close the vehicle so we don't have fuel splattered on our pants and shoes. We purchased the vehicle new in july '07 and this problem did not start happening until august this year ' at approximate mileage 39,500. Fuel system, gasoline · reported at 39,500 miles
