Reading the numbers

Across the 15 model years of the Mercury Sable in this data, 2005 draws comparatively few complaints; 1993 is the outlier year.

Filings have fallen off, 4 in the last three years against 16 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.

The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 71,000 miles.

When you accelerate from a stop to get up to the speed limit or flow of traffic when you remove or ease up your foot from the gas pedal the rpm's shoot up to 3500/4000 rpm and the pedal continues to depress, increasing the vehicle speed. Pressing the brake will slow the vehicle, but the engine continues to rev-up. You must kick the gas pedal two or three times to get it to disengage. Vehicle speed control · reported at 125,000 miles
