Consumer stated while driving down on interstate highway right rear tire blew out. Tire shredded completely from the sidewall to the tread. Tire blowout caused vehicle to swerve all over the highway until it was able to come to a stop. Consumer pulled to the side of the highway, and called a tow truck to change the tire. A drivers front firestone steeltex at tire, on a 2000 Ford Excursion exploded on july 7, 2002 on I-95 in walterboro, sc. My girlfriend agnes and a good friend dave were killed, daves 11 yr old son max suffered a severly broken right femer, daves wife, cheryl had several deep cuts and scrapes I have a severly broken left femer and knee damage. He contacted the manufacturer but was told that since he didn't have his original tires he would have to pay for the 10 ply replacements.
