Reading the numbers
Across the 24 model years of the Chrysler Town And Country in this data, 1994 draws comparatively few complaints; 2008 is the outlier year.
Filings have fallen off, 4 in the last three years against 11 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.
The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 134,500 miles.
In owners' own words
Sudden downshift/deceleration -transmission locked in 2nd gear - total transmission failure requiring $1500 rebuild. Still exhibits delayed shifting and sometimes poor acceleration due to delayed downshifts. Chrysler's only comment... They consider me "irresponsible for not having bought the extended warranty offered by the dealer at purchase." (Direct quote from Chrysler customer relations person.) Power train
Transmission started shifting really rough around 116,000. Previous owner replaced the transmission. When they sold it to us at around 150,000, the transmission started shifting hard again. Now at 169,000 it shifts back and forth between 2nd and 3rd gears and is very rough. When shifting into reverse, it clunks. This is after we even took it in and had transmission fixed. No good. Differential pin shot out through transmission housing, causing transmission to blow. There was a loud bang while vehicle was going 55mph. Transmission seized up, and was leaking. Vehicle wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear. Vehicle had no brakes to alert drivers because vehicle would eventually slow down by jerking in gear. Dealer was not notified. Please provide more information.
