In owners' own words
The vehicle has experienced transmission issues. I received a powertrain malfunction light in August, and the car suddenly had trouble shifting in low gears resulting in jerking. When driving, it continued to have issues. Then, it wouldn't go into reverse and the jerking increased before having it towed to get evaluated. There were no signs and it appears that MANY of these transmissions are reported to have issues. Power train
Recently, the car started shuddering at 25-45 mph. We took it to the Ford dealer for an evaluation and were told that the torque converter and transmission are very damaged. They both need to be replaced at a cost of $10,000. We have only 61500 miles on the car. Further research has indicated that if we were to keep driving it, it could result in sudden failure, loss of driving power and possibly loss of control Power train
Our Ford Edge ST has 43,000 on it and there are times that when we if shift from Park to Reverse or Reverse to Drive, it sound and feels like the transmission dropped out of the vehicle and sounds like a bullet from a gun. Since it is out of the 3 year/36,000 warranty, Ford wants $200 to diagnose it and what it will cost to repair it. I havenât taken to Ford, based on the fact that this as it is a known issue.
