In owners' own words
Complete brake failure due to the intelligent brake unit. Driving on the freeway when multiple warning lights flashed at once and I lost brake functionality. I used to emergency brake to slow to a stop. This is an intermittent failure because after it sat for 30 minutes brake functionality returned. I'm very concerned about this issue and have seen multiple people reporting this issue for Nissan Leafs. Service brakes
I was stopped at a red light with my foot on the brake pedal and the car started to roll forward. I pressed hard on the brakes and noticed some strange noise as if the brake pedal was hitting something. The instrument display showed multiple warning signs like a skid symbol, brake in red font. Fortunately, the parking brake worked and I was glad I was stopped at the traffic light when this happened. Service brakes · reported at 24,000 miles
I approached a red light at an intersection intending to make a right turn. As I pressed the brakes to stop before the turn, the car did not slow and I was forced to make the turn against the red light. After the turn I was able to stop the car using the parking brake. After coming to a stop I noticed multiple warning lights on the instrument panel had come on which were not on previously. Service brakes
