The contact owns a 2014 Mazda 6. The contact stated that the push to start/stop button failed to turn off the vehicle when depressed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and it was diagnosed that the switch unit failed and needed replacement. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The Shifter Park Switch failed, causing the vehicle to say on when turning the vehicle off. This causes the battery to drain and created a bad cell battery. This caused the vehicle to turn off while in motion driving multiple times putting the driver and surrounding vehicles at risk. This vehicle has been inspected by the Mazda dealership/manufacturer. Ignition does not turn off when pressing start/stop button draining battery with car completely shutting down while driving, coasting to the side of road almost causing an accident.
