Reading the numbers

Across the 16 model years of the Jeep Compass in this data, 2013 draws comparatively few complaints; 2018 is the outlier year.

Filings have fallen off, 4 in the last three years against 21 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.

The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 50,000 miles.

In owners' own words

Jeep first issues was at 89k, not shifting. Second issues was at100k transmission over heated. Dealer/ warranty had me changed the fluid and filter for transmission. Third issue, 130k transmission made a whining noise and stopped. Jeep was towed to the shop. After doing some research, turns out that the transmission on several these Jeep’s have same issue. The transmission should be on manufactured recall. Power train
Traveling at 70 mph, the transmission over heating light came on. The Jeep lost all power. After about 30 minutes the light went off. We pulled to safe location. Jeep still didn't have much power. Transmission sounded awful. Jeep was taken home on a flatbed. Now I am being told because it has 101340 miles the warranty is over. Dealership is saying because the code light is off they can't do anything. Power train · reported at 101,340 miles
While driving 70 mph down i4 the automatic transmission light came on, vehicle would not accelerate anymore and was forced to pull over to wait for the vehicle to cool down. This is the 4th time this has happened with the vehicle since buying it brand new in 2013. The issues starting in april 2015, with 35000 miles on the car. Jeep continues to say that they cannot replicate the issue. Power train · reported at 35,000 miles
