Reading the numbers
Across the 4 model years of the Scion TC in this data, 2008 draws comparatively few complaints; 2005 is the outlier year.
Filings have fallen off, 13 in the last three years against 31 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.
The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 67,500 miles.
In owners' own words
I just went to the dealer and have indicated that my car burns oil 2 to 3x's faster than normal. I was made aware (for the 1st time) of the extended warranty that toyota issued. However, my car now has 150,737 miles and does not qualify for the warranty work. Here's the document that shows my car no longer qualifies. Excessive oil consumption and this is the second engine that has blown in my car. The first problem was when the pistons blew up my engine and now here we go again with the pistons in the second motor. I called Scion customer service and spoke with camille and she basically told me I am stuck with this bad motor that I just had put in on april 7, 2017. Engine · reported at 190,000 miles
