Reading the numbers
Across the 5 model years of the Volkswagen GTI in this data, 2007 draws comparatively few complaints; 2009 is the outlier year.
Filings have fallen off, 4 in the last three years against 9 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.
The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 24,000 miles.
In owners' own words
My 2007 Volkswagen GTI has a dsg transmission. It has been experiencing "lurching" or "jumping" while the car is stopped at traffic lights or idling and this kicks up the rpm's and makes you feel like the car is either going to move on it's own or it makes it feel as if you've been hit from the rear? I will take this complaint to Volkswagen as well, so we shall see what they say and more importantly, do. Power train · reported at 47,105 miles
Regarding the dsg auto. Transmission in the 2006 and 2007 vw GTI: under some conditions the car will hesitate about 1 to 2 seconds when quickly switching between the gas pedal and the brake pedal, such as when making a quick left turn to beat the oncoming traffic. Vw simply says that "they all do that". This could be a dangerous problem and should be set up as a recall by vw. Power train
Dsg transmission lurches in reverse everytime and is dangerous when getting out of a parking spot, when downshift from a higher gear like 4th or 5th there is a sudden lose of power for a brief moment and can be dangerous for those behind who don't anticipate the sudden slow down. There is also a lag on take off from a stop which cause havoc from drivers behind. Power train
