Reading the numbers

Across the 12 model years of the Nissan Quest in this data, 2006 draws comparatively few complaints; 2004 is the outlier year.

Filings have fallen off, 4 in the last three years against 15 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.

The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 57,000 miles.

In owners' own words

The transmission failed and now is being replaced at a minimum charge of $3500. The transmission mechanic said that Nissan used shoddy materials in its transmissions for the 2006 year. I live in mountainous terrain and said defective transmission could have been very dangerous. In addition, I note that many websites refer to Nissan vehicles having defective transmissions. This is safety concern for me and my family. My Nissan Quest 2006 se when it down shifts does not accelerate. This problem is a serious risk for me and my family when we are on the interstate and then exit and wait at the signal the car does not move and just revs up with almost zero acceleration. I want Nissan to take this car back and provide me a replacement. Power train · reported at 120,000 miles
When you start driving the vehicle from a cold start it drives and shifts perfect. As soon as it reaches operating temperature it will slam when shifting gears. After 5 minutes or so it will not move. Shut the vehicle off for 15 to 20 minutes and I shifts and drives fine for a few more minutes then the same problems happen again.
