Reading the numbers
Across the 23 model years of the Ford Expedition in this data, 2005 sits 11th by complaint volume. 1999 draws the most.
Filings have fallen off, 5 in the last three years against 21 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.
The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 75,000 miles.
In owners' own words
I was driving my 2005 Ford Expedition at 25mph and came to a stop light. I stopped. I tried to accelerate but I couldn't. My rpm where moving but car would not. Then the check electric throttle control message popped on. Car finally started to accelerate but died out. It then restarted and drove normally for 4 blocks, before not accelerating at all. Had to be towed to Ford dealer. This needs to be recalled. Electrical system · reported at 11,000 miles
I was driving about 70mph when the message center tone sounded and the message read "check throttle control". The engine continued to run, however, the accelerator became inoperable. It seems as if a lot of 05 Expedition owners are having the same problem. This is just way to dangerous to drive with this issue. I never drive in the middle lane on highways now for fear that this could happen at any time. Electrical system · reported at 75,000 miles
Vehicle died unexpectedly while traveling down highway at a high rate of speed. There are hundreds of complaints just like this on here. If a recall isn't in order people will die and the lawsuits will begin. It's obviously a major mechanical problem. Ford and the nhtsa should be liable. This is serious and reading through all of these complaints it doesn't seem like the nhtsa is doing their job. Electrical system
