Reading the numbers
Across the 5 model years of the Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 in this data, 2005 draws comparatively few complaints; 2003 is the outlier year.
Filings have fallen off, 5 in the last three years against 15 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.
The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 62,450 miles.
In owners' own words
I own a 2005 chevy avalanche which I bought last june 2007 from a private party and I noticed that last septermber 2007 as I was driving on the street, I noticed that my speedometer was reading 110 and I was only going at 25mph. I wish to know what to do and I have not yet fixed my truck due to the fact that fixing my truck is over $1,000 dollars. Is there anyway I can fix my truck w/o paying anything? Electrical system
Owner was driving, attempted to turn up hvac fan to higher speed but noticed that fan would not increase speed and stayed on the low speed. Then started to smell smoke. Pulled over, shut truck off but noticed hvac blower fan was still running on low speed. Saw fire inside right side of dash. Fire originated inside right side of dash at location of blower motor and resistor components. Electrical system
I was driving down the road and realized that my odometer was not working properly.. It was registering that I was going 120 mph, in a 35, I knew that was wrong...All the other gauges are working well. I now recorded 120 mph or sometimes it will record between 75 and 90. I haven't corrected it.. I'm waiting for gmc do something. Or until the inspection sticker expires Electrical system · reported at 52,000 miles
