The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche. While driving 45 mph, the speed control stopped working. The speedometer needle was not registering any speed. The contact attempted to receive assistance from Chevrolet, but was unsuccessful. Chevrolet stated that they were not responsible due to the mileage on the vehicle. The current mileage was 76,104 and failure mileage was 72,000. Electrical system · reported at 72,000 miles
The speedometer on the 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche works intermittently it will indacate that the speed is 65 mph when I am actuauly going 75 mph. Sometimes it will read the opposie or not at all. General motors has indicated that this is not a safety problem. This is a safety issue. It is very dificult to exit the highway onto a ramp when you are not sure how fast you are going. The dealer stated that the instrument panel cluster module failed and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 70,000.
