Upper ball joint separated ,wheel assembly lost support and fell inward at the top, lost steering control, failure occurred on a soft gravel road at low speed . No one was injured . The abs wire was cut at the wheel as a result of the ball joint failure .According to the repair facility the wire is not repairable as it is part of the front rotor assembly and must be serviced as a assembly . At 50,000 miles, both front wheel bearings had to be replaced, as the vehicle was pulling off the road as it was being driven. I was told that they wore because of no grease. Now at 61,000 miles, the intake manifold gasket is leaking, and the oil lines are also leaking. The dealership estimated repair costs at well over $1100 dollars. Front wheel bearing failure, causing both front wheels to loosen on the hub, I immediately took it to me mechanic who stated both wheels were ready to fall off. Upon research, this problem seems to happen on significant numbers of these vehicles do to design flaw of front suspension. The suspnsion is not desigend for the weight of the newer models Jimmy.
