: The contact stated the abs engaged at 3mph when brake pressure was applied. The vehicle was seen by the dealer and a diagnostic test was performed. Although the problem persisted, no repairs were made. There is a nhtsa recall, # 05v379000, regarding the antilock brakes. The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado. While driving 30 mph he depressed the brakes and crashed into the vehicle in front of him. The air bags did not deploy. The front seat passenger sustained a lacerated spleen and contusion of the heart. A complaint was submitted to the manufacturer (complaint # 71-546827970). When applying the brakes brake pedal went down to the floor, and the vehicle experienced extended stopping distance. The dealer informed the consumer that the problem was with the antilock braking system, but did not specify the components that needed to be replaced. Also, the vehicle was only using the front brakes for a period of time because the rear brakes stopped operating. The rear brakes were replaced. Service brakes, hydraulic · reported at 39,000 miles
