In owners' own words
1999 Honda Odyssey transmission failed and was replaced only 3,000 miles out us warranty and within the canadian warranty the car was sold under. Honda has covered under an extended warranty other similar model years and should have covered this one under recall. The failure of these transmissions at an alarming rate, outside the identified transmissions, and without recall is a very dangerous consumer situation. Power train · reported at 39,000 miles
The contact owns a 1999 Honda Odyssey. While driving approximately 35 mph up a hill, the contact noticed that the vehicle would not accelerate. The contact was able to coast to a stop where the vehicle was parked. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The contact stated that the transmission had previously been replaced by an authorized dealer. The current and failure mileages were approximately 114,000. Power train · reported at 114,000 miles
Had transmission problem on my 99 Honda Odyssey. Replaced it at 60000 miles at aamco transmission. Honda denied my claim because I did not bring it to the dealer. Now at 90000 miles, the engine light came on again and the shifting feels rough. This is a design problem that Honda tries to ignore. This transmission problem can cause an accident if the second gear does not engage while we are on the freeway. *Nlm Power train · reported at 60,000 miles
