Reading the numbers
Across the 10 model years of the Isuzu Rodeo in this data, 1998 ranks 2nd by complaint volume — 1999 draws the most.
Filings have fallen off, 8 in the last three years against 33 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.
The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 100,000 miles.
In owners' own words
When pressing the brake pedal if my foot is not all the way on the pedal , the accelerator can be pressed at the same time. This has happened on several occasions. The last occurence resulted in a collision. I believe the closeness of the pedals contributes greatly to this happening. I have found that when I have my foot on half of the brake pedal and depress fully, the accelerator is engaged by top of my foot. Service brakes, hydraulic
Whenever brakes are applied vehicle fails to stop properly. Had taken vehicle to dealership and was informed that no problem existed with brakes in 1999. After moving to another state experienced the same problem. Took to another dealership, and informed consumer brakes were not grabbing like they should. Mechanic replaced pads and rotors in the rear of vehicle. Problem of non stopping still exists. Service brakes, hydraulic
Turned left at a low rate of speed into an angled parking space in a parking lot; as the vehicle came to a near stop the brake pedal went all the way to the floor and the car lurched forward, striking another parked car. I clearly remember the brake pedal being depressed completely to the floor at impact. I put the car in park and then in reverse to back up - the brakes seemed to work at that point.
