Reading the numbers
Across the 5 model years of the Plymouth Neon in this data, 1997 draws comparatively few complaints; 1995 is the outlier year.
Filings have fallen off, 16 in the last three years against 81 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.
The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 65,000 miles.
In owners' own words
Consumer has a brake problem. When applying brakes there is noise. Also, engine head gasket had an oil leak, and she took it to the garage. Then, she took vehicle back to dealership. Mechanic replaced head gasket. Brake drum was pitted, and mechanic told her that nothing was wrong. Finally, passenger's airbag panel was bulging on the dashboard. There were no lights on the airbag modular. Engine and engine cooling
Vehicle not 2 yrs old that has transmisson problems trend in defective neons? Warranty is obselte. I shouldn't have to pay! Has had maintenance checks. Took it to alley's chry/ply dealer was told the problem. Very angary that the vehicle is barely 2 yrs old to have major problems I can't afford to shell out $1285 for transmission and $ 450 for engine head gasket. Engine and engine cooling
