Reading the numbers
Across the 6 model years of the Chevrolet Corsica in this data, 1996 ranks 2nd by complaint volume — 1992 draws the most.
Filings have fallen off, 5 in the last three years against 23 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.
The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 109,000 miles.
In owners' own words
I've owned this car for 3 1/2 years. In past year, encountered many expensive problems. Head gasket blew and water pump replaced at approx 56,000 miles. Control arm bushings need replacement at 60,000 miles? I drive this car to and from work each day, no long trips, avg mileage per day = 10 miles possibly. Cannot understand why 5 year old car is having major problems w/low mileage. Maintain it regularly. Engine and engine cooling
When I bought the car there was a small leak of pink fluid thinking it was transmission fluid I took it to a garage and he put a new trasmission gasket on but didnot stop the leak come to find out this was all coming from the head gasget which should be good for alot longer then 45,000 miles and I think Chevrolet should pay to replace it which will cost $450.00 Engine and engine cooling
Vehicle would stall without any prior warning while driving. Would need to wait approximately 1 hour before it would restart. Vehicle towed to dealer & mechanic put a new crankshaft sensor. Problem reappeared again & this time 2 hours were needed to restart. Been at dealership 2 months & problem not resolved. It is an intermittent problem. Engine and engine cooling
