Reading the numbers
Across the 12 model years of the Nissan Quest in this data, 1995 ranks 3rd by complaint volume — 2004 draws the most.
Filings have fallen off, 4 in the last three years against 11 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.
The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 100,000 miles.
In owners' own words
Crankshaft broken at 85k, after recent dealer installation of timing belt. Engine died while driving, luckily we weren't in traffic. Had a similar problem at 21k - driving on the expressway and lost most of the engine power. Again, not much traffic, and this time the car would still drive (SLOW) so we could get to a dealer where all belts and aseal to crankshaft was replaced. Engine and engine cooling
While on interstate hwy the engine "slung a rod" through the oil pan at 65 miles per hour. This resulted in a hazardous loss of power and a small fire in the engine compartment. Nissan refuses to honor extended warrenty or return calls or respond to written complaints. Engine and engine cooling
While driving engine check light appeared on the dashboard and remained on until vehicle was turned off. Consumer drove vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic replaced a sensor. Two days later engine check light reappeared. Engine and engine cooling
