Reading the numbers
Across the 6 model years of the Lincoln Mark Viii in this data, 1993 draws the most complaints of any of them.
Filings have fallen off, 4 in the last three years against 10 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.
The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 89,000 miles.
In owners' own words
Lincoln is aware that the early Mark Viii"s had a problem with headlight systems and changed to "hid" lighting to correct the problem. I want Lincoln to recall the early cars to resolve this problem.I was not the owner when the car crashed I have been coping with this problem since I bought the car though, and I know this is a safety problem that needs to be made right! Thank you. Loren peterson. Exterior lighting
I have been aware of this since I purchased this vehicle. Headlights on this vehicle, and several other Mark Viii's I am personally familiar with are very dim, to the point of being dangerous. Online investigation shows many Mark Viii owners have the same complaint. The only option ford/Lincoln offers is an upgrade to the newer hid system, for nearly $1000.00. Not a good option for a design failure. Exterior lighting
Headlights on subject vehicle are a safety hazard due to the total inadequate capability to illuminate the roadway. Lights are dim and provide barely enough light to drive at night. The problem is even worse during rain at night as the edge of the roadway cannot be discerned. This situation is not due to the vehicle's age, this problem has existed since I purchased the car in sept. 1995. Nlm Exterior lighting
