Reading the numbers
Across the 13 model years of the KIA Soul in this data, 2022 draws comparatively few complaints; 2014 is the outlier year.
Filings are rising — 110 in the last three years against 23 in the three before. For a vehicle this age that usually points to a wear-related failure owners are hitting now.
The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 51,000 miles.
In owners' own words
I had this car go to the garage back in February under the 2021-2023 Seltos and Soul engine recall. The engine was fine but the check engine light is has been on since MARCH. I personally believe this was software related as I had MULTIPLE technicians verify the sensor and wiring is still in top shape. My OBD2 Reader shows the engine is pulling a large amount of retarded timing and it only happens under acceleration. Engine
My car stalled with no precursors. The engine and oil was maintain but the engined stall with out smoke or mixed oil. This error falls directly under the recall for pistion rings that cause engine failure. I brought my vehicle to Archer Kia and after two-three months of waited for the recall repair they stated that they could not repair the failed engine under the recall that causes failed engines. I dropped my car off yesterday and they stated that it did in fact need a new engine. My problem is how come the dealership wonât provide a loaner!? They are telling me that they are unsure when they can get it fixed! People need to go to work!! How can you expect a customer to be ok with this! Iâm going to be forced to drive this car! This is completely ridiculous and unsatisfactory! Engine
