Reading the numbers

Across the 6 model years of the Jeep Renegade in this data, 2019 draws comparatively few complaints; 2017 is the outlier year.

Filings are rising — 60 in the last three years against 39 in the three before. For a vehicle this age that usually points to a wear-related failure owners are hitting now.

The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 17,000 miles.

In owners' own words

Touch screen control has gone black and isn't accessible. The back up camera is no longer working. This vehicle has a lot of blind spots without a rearview camera. All setting have also switched to Canadian metrics-milage, tire pressure, speedometer etc. The seat belts also don't always lock in. Some times they lock in other times you have to punch in the button to try and get the locking mechanism to engage. Electrical system
Supposedly some rodents or something chewed the wires in the Jeep and the evap, probably because of the soy used in the wiring. This resulted in the fuel gauged indicating it was empty even with a full tank and made it feel unsafe to drive. Not sure of how dangerous or hazardous this may have been but it was alarming and the manufacturer is not taking responsibility for it, even though they used the soy wires.
