The Contact owns 2014 Cadillac CTS. The contact stated while driving approximately 40-50 mph, there was an abnormal sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the rear differential needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000. Power train · reported at 55,000 miles
2014 Cadillac CTS awd. Vehicle started hesitating while turning. Which turned into a whine and then grinding from the rear differential. Noise starts at 30 mph and increases as speed increases. Have seen many cases of Cadillac rear differential failing. Issue verified by the dealership february 2021. Now gm has no replacement units or repair parts for this differential. Axle half shaft bolts backed out breaking mating gears in differential. Vehicle was in motion when a vibration that felt like a wheel was extremely out of balance started. The vehicle was pulled over to inspect. After seeing nothing I attempted to drive away so it was put in drive and as the brake was released the gears broke disabling the vehicle necessitating a flat bed tow to the dealer.
