Filings have fallen off, 7 in the last three years against 34 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.

The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 67,000 miles.

In owners' own words

The engine is making a rattling noise whenever I try starting the car and it dies after 30 seconds. The rattling noise started happening only after 2 months of buying the car. The noise specifically started happening after I was driving it from work and after taking a u-turn, a rattling noise just started growing louder and louder up until it just slowly died and I had to pull over to the side of the street. Read that this Scion frs 2013 has recall for engine valve springs but not listed? This Scion was reidentified as a toyota 86 for 2018 and it is listed. Both of these vehicles are mfd. By subaru and are essentially identical! Why is the Scion frs not listed. It shouldn't be unlisted as a 'small mfr' please contact me asap. I'm original owner, so my id and contact info is a available to you. Tia Engine · reported at 18,000 miles
Complaint about total engine failure after bringing my 2013 Scion frs in for valve spring recall. The vehicle has only 17,000 miles. Valve spring recall was done at a toyota dealership. Several hundreds miles later, while driving, the engine light comes on and making knocking noise. Brought to toyota and they said it was engine failure. This dealer did not even open the engine to verify. Engine · reported at 17,000 miles
