Reading the numbers

Across the 21 model years of the Ford F-250 in this data, 2010 draws comparatively few complaints; 1999 is the outlier year.

Filings have fallen off, 14 in the last three years against 22 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.

The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 80,400 miles.

In owners' own words

We recently purchased this as a used truck, private sale. When traveling over 45 mph, if vehicle hits a bump or catches a ridge, the steering creates a feedback that violently shakes the entire vehicle. Immediate, rapid hard braking is necessary to maintain control of the vehicle. This occurs frequently, is commonly known as Ford death wobble, is a known issue, and should be subject to recall. While driving the truck at a speed greater than 40 mph, when you hit a bump in the road, the steering wheel and truck begin to shake to the point of non control. I've had the vehicle looked at by 3 mechanics and replaced ball joints, stabilizers, tie rods, etc. Nobody can fix it. Ford won't admit anything is wrong. 2010 Ford F-250 with a horrible shimmy between 60 and 65 mph. Becomes violent shaking after going over small bumbs in road, and unable to steer. To stop this I had to slow below 50 mph. Currently 82000 miles have had this issue for several months. No one at Ford seems to know what it is. Search on the intranet appears to describe it as the "death wobble".
