The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled and failed to restart. The engine warning light illuminated. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Vehicle burns large quantities of oil, often in short periods of time. (We will check oil, it's fine, and then a few days later we've burned two quarts.) This requires us to pull over rapidly and find new oil to prevent engine failure, making it a major safety hazard. We've burned 1 to 2 quarts of oil every 1,000 to 1,500 miles pretty consistently since march, when we first discovered we were down 3 quarts. Engine · reported at 80,000 miles
Variable valve timing chain issue as with the previous years models that have had problems.2007 To 2009 model years were recalled for this same issue and the 2010 model year v6 is havig the same problem. Codes p0016 and p0017. Crankshaft and camshaft correlation. Check engine light illuminates. Same problem as 2007 thru 2009 that were covered.
