The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 68,000 miles.
In owners' own words
My Jeep patriot needed front ball joints and control arms replaced at 32,000 miles. It has never been driven recklessly or even off road. It was a $1,045.00 Repair job. The mechanic said it was a hazard to drive. The Jeep forums are alive with complaints about the exact same repair early on. This is an excessive repair and a danger. Jeep patriot (2008) lower ball joints failed on both sides. Problem started at 37,000 miles. Car was taken to dealer, told to rotate tires (no mention of ball joints). Failed inspection 3 months later due to ball joints and lower control arms. Cost to repair over $1,000. Car must be fixed, but Jeep does not insure that the part will not fail again. Very dangerous situation! Suspension
I brought my vehicle in for new tires at 51,000 miles and was advised that my 2 year old Jeep had ball joints that are dangerously worn. This is premature as it has been driven under normal use, just higher then average miles. As the warranty for this part is limited to 3 years 36,000 I am on my own, so I have ordered the parts and will do it myself. Suspension · reported at 51,000 miles
