Reading the numbers

Across the 7 model years of the Toyota Sequoia in this data, 2005 draws comparatively few complaints; 2002 is the outlier year.

Filings are rising — 19 in the last three years against 11 in the three before. For a vehicle this age that usually points to a wear-related failure owners are hitting now.

The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 91,800 miles.

In owners' own words

2005 2Wd Toyota Sequoia limited has the following warning lights on while the engine is running: vsc, trac-off, abs, engine light. The vehicle will stall if you try to accelerate, and it will not go over 50 mph, as if having no power. My Sequoia is a real safety problem on the road. Until Toyota stand behind their products, they are just a pathetic car company with bogus quality image. Electronic stability control (ESC)
While driving straight down the street, I heard a grinding sound and all of the vsc trac warning lights came on. After stopping and restarting the car, the car behaved normal again. This is the second occurrence. I'm presuming that the grinding noise might be the brakes pulsating. It is not safe for the brakes to automatically apply themselves during safe driving conditions. Electronic stability control (ESC) · reported at 100,000 miles
When cornering on a mountain road at a safe speed; the vsc traction control kicked in; this caused a grinding sound and the traction control light on the dash. Caused vehicle to slow down; I pulled over to side of road checked wheels/tires undercarriage nothing found; proceeded to destination did not repeat. Checked online; others have had similar issues.
