Reading the numbers

Filings have fallen off, 19 in the last three years against 30 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.

The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 62,000 miles.

In owners' own words

Erratic speedometer on 2004 GMC Envoy XUV shows various speeds from zero to 120+ mph while driving at normal road speeds. Need to use tachometer to determine approximate speed of vehicle (2000 rpm = 65 mph for this vehicle). When ignition is turned off the speedometer needle does not always return to zero, the speedometer needle also shutters a little intermittently when reducing speed. Speedometer defect - known issue but no recall; can't tell how fast or slow I'm going, after reading forums, not sure if other dashboard problems - hard to drive safely when trying not to watch the dash to see if something other than speedometer indicates a problem. Distraction to the point of being dangerous - especially around this area. What about school zones? Electrical system · reported at 77,250 miles
Speedometer suddenly quit working, showing highway speeds of 95-120+mph, only went down to 20mph at lowest when car is stopped. Usually reads 60 at stop. Mesh checked it & says instrument cluster. All other gauges ok. Seems like enough complaints to get gm to correct this, without charge to customer. Failure now lasted 6 moths - using gps to determine speed.
