Reading the numbers

Across the 7 model years of the Mazda Tribute in this data, 2001 draws the most complaints of any of them.

Filings have fallen off, 4 in the last three years against 11 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.

The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 70,500 miles.

In owners' own words

The engine stalled while the truck was being driven on a flat, dry road at about 40 mph. When that happened, the power steering and the power brakes stopped working, so the truck was very hard to steer and to stop. The driver pulled over and then was able to start the engine again. This has only happened once to us but this is still very serious. We think this should be considered a safety hazard for this truck. Engine and engine cooling
While driving 40 - 45 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle lost steering and braking capability. The consumer had to struggle to maintain control of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a local dealership and they were unable to duplicate the problem . In april 2004, the vehicle was involved in a recall dealing with (PCM) power train control module recalibration. Please describe details. *Jb. Engine and engine cooling · reported at 29,212 miles
The vehicle has stalled several times without warning. The first two times the vehicle stalled while at a stop light. The second two times the vehicle was in motion. Neither time did the check engine light illuminate. The vehicle restarts with no problem. Consumer called the service department and was informed that there was nothing that could be done if the check engine light did not illuminate. Engine and engine cooling
