Reading the numbers
Across the 6 model years of the Lincoln LS in this data, 2000 draws the most complaints of any of them.
Filings have fallen off, 10 in the last three years against 27 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.
The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 74,600 miles.
In owners' own words
Steering knuckle broke while driving car - was recalled by ford in 2000 for this very thing. Ford is saying the vehicle was repaired by the first owner but I don't think it ever was. Ford dealer used by me for repair said the other one was about to break too. Repaired both of them. I could easily have been killed. Had just pulled off the interstate. Probably would be dead if this had happened 5 minutes earlier. Suspension · reported at 80,000 miles
The contact owns a 2000 Lincoln LS. The contact was driving approximately 10 to 15 mph when the front driver side of the vehicle suddenly collapsed without warning. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where they advised the contact that the ball joints were fractured. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000. Suspension · reported at 145,000 miles
Whenever there is a pothole or bumps in the road, there is a clunking noise in the suspension. I was the told the ball joints needed replacing and an alignment needed. This was done but the problem remains. This is on a 2000 Lincoln LS. The problem first occurred at around 50,000 miles. The ball joints and alignment were done at around 190,000 miles with no difference in the condition. Suspension · reported at 50,000 miles
