Reading the numbers

Across the 7 model years of the Mercury Villager in this data, 1999 draws comparatively few complaints; 1993 is the outlier year.

Filings have fallen off, 6 in the last three years against 14 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.

The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 53,000 miles.

In owners' own words

In the newspaper today I read about sticking accelerator pedal, which I have experienced after about 1 year of ownership. I may have received a recall, but I don't remember. However, the problem continues and creates a dangerous situation because the pedal will not always go down when needed. His is an intermittent problem. Is there any information where Mercury will fix this problem? Vehicle speed control · reported at 12,000 miles
When stopped at light, upon accelerating when the light turns green, the accelerator is hard to press. It does not depress. You have to either press too hard or pump a few times for it to get going. This is very dangerous when you are taking a left turn on a solid green light without a green arrow. You may stall and then lunge forward into an oncoming car Vehicle speed control · reported at 40,000 miles
Consumer noticed that throttle body needed replacing. Acclerator pedal stuck in middle of intersection causing loss of forward movement. This forced driver to apply great force to accelerator pedal in order for vehicle to accelerate. Also, part was on national back order. *Ak the replacement parts are scarce due to the problem being common. Vehicle speed control
