In owners' own words

Steering wheel locks up after key has been turned. Ongoing problem for me - dealership says "nothing is wrong." However, I have discovered through my own investigations that many others with 1997 - 2000 corvettes are experiencing the same frustration. Luckily the car was in the driveway every time this happened so at least I was not stranded. Gm needs to address this problem immediately!*Ak ref. In ea02-031 *cjs Steering
Service column lock was recalled and fixed in 2006 but service column lock occurred again. This has been an ongoing problem well documented and gm has no fix for it it appears there are several fixes out there at the cost of the consumer which is not appropriate that gm refuses to properly troubleshoot this problem which is even occurring after the required ntsb recall repair is made. While consumer was attempting to start vehicle steering column would not unlock. Consumer spent almost an hour but could not get the key into the ignition to unlock the steering column. Consumer stated her husband looked this problem up on the internet and found that there was a recall. Called dealer, who informed her that this vehicle was not covered under the recall due to vin.
