The manufacturer was contacted and advised that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number: 04v110000 (fuel system, gasoline:delivery:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings). The dealer stated that the vehicle had been inspected in 2004 and repaired under nhtsa campaign id number 04v110000 (fuel system, gasoline:delivery:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings). In-tank fuel pump unit motor failure caused a high-current draw. Prior to fuse blowing, in-tank wiring became hot enough to melt the wire insulation. This is a serious safety condition.
