Reading the numbers

Across the 4 model years of the Chevrolet Caprice in this data, 1994 draws the most complaints of any of them.

Filings have fallen off, 4 in the last three years against 8 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.

The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 92,800 miles.

In owners' own words

Digital dash speedometer goes away, does not show speed of travel. When this happens opperator does not know the rate of speed being traveled. I have replaced the unit once before at 99,000 miles with a reconditioned unit at a cost of $300.00. Recently at 140,000 miles this unit has failed also. This reconditioned unit is the origional unit from the car that had been sent in for repair the first time. Electrical system · reported at 99,000 miles
Dt: cable from battery to junction box overheated and started a fire. It melted the stud that battery cable was connected to, the junction box and the area around the junction box. Caller was at a car wash and the attendent saw smoke and alerted consumer. They opened the hood and disconnected the battery. Vehicle was towed to dealer. Manufacturer said they had no recall. *Ak Electrical system · reported at 62,000 miles
While driving at approx 10mph, making a turn, engine and electronic system turned off, lost all braking power/ steering and lights. Consumer had to run up on curb until engine stopped running. Upon checking under the hood, discovered that a positive cabble from the battery leading to the bottom of the fuse box was loose. This defect could result in an accident. Electrical system
