Engine has been operating poorly. Vehicle taken to an independent repair shop.Consumer was informed of a blown head gasket. Dealer was notified, and informed consumer that vehicle was not covered under extended warranty by the manufacturer. *Ak while having recall (98v-323) performed additional repair charges for the broken motor mounts. *Y had to replace waterpump and radiator in october of 2000, $ 925.00 Engine and engine cooling
Engine head gaskets failed at 49,000 and at 51,000 motor mounts had to be replaced, oil pan is rusting from the outside and needs replacement, starter has a clip to attach connection, comes loose and must get under car to re-attach (some engineering wiz here) front body mount is under oil filter and will have to be replaced soon. Have contacted ford and they are happy for my business, but are not going to help Engine and engine cooling
The premature failure of the head gaskets at 60,000 miles is typical of the failures on outher recalled model years and is a result of defective parts and should be the responsability of ford. My cost was $1,600 for the repairs. Also needed replacement of all freeze plugs. I have also had to repair the ac. Almost every year since owning this car because of failures in the lines, manifolds, and seals. Engine and engine cooling
